Business Plan for a Bank, Investor or Grant: Bizon Planner vs LivePlan, Upmetrics, Consultants and DIY
Disclosure: Bizon Planner is a City Profit group product, and the method behind it was developed by City Profit. Competitor prices come from public pricing pages in September 2026. Verify them, and confirm which language and market each product’s files are written for.
Start with the reader, not the template
The same business gets four different plans depending on who reads it.
| Reader | What they look for first | What breaks the plan |
|---|---|---|
| Bank or lender | Repayment capacity, cash runway, collateral | Optimistic revenue with no break-even point |
| Investor | Market size, unit economics, growth logic, exit | Unit economics that do not close |
| Grant committee | Fit with the programme, jobs, budget line by line | A budget that ignores the programme rules |
| Your own board or partners | Targets you can track monthly | Numbers nobody can update |
The options and what they cost

How to read the price gap
UAH 1,490 is a one-off purchase, roughly the price of a single month of LivePlan’s Premium tier at monthly billing. That does not make it better or worse. It buys a document set you edit yourself, which is very different from software you rent and log into. For a founder who needs one plan for one application, an editable file is efficient. For a company that will update forecasts every month for years, software with budget-versus-actual tracking earns its subscription.
What a lender or investor will check in the numbers
- Every revenue line traces to a stated assumption (price, volume, conversion) that a reader can change.
- There is a break-even point and it is realistic for the first months, not year three.
- Fixed and variable costs are separated, so margin changes with volume behave correctly.
- Cash, not only profit, is modelled: payment terms, stock and tax dates.
- A downside case exists, and the plan survives it.
A model with live formulas makes items 1 and 5 cheap to demonstrate. That is the practical argument for a formula-driven file over a static PDF.
Which business should pick what
IT and software companies
Investors will ask for recurring revenue, churn, customer acquisition cost and payback. Check that any template lets you model subscriptions by cohort, not only a single yearly revenue figure. If the raise is significant, budget for an adviser to stress-test the story.
Manufacturers of physical goods
Capacity, capital expenditure, working capital and lead times decide a manufacturing plan. Lenders read stock and receivable days closely. Make sure the model separates one-time equipment spend from monthly costs, and that it handles a ramp-up in output.
Professional services
Services live on utilisation and pricing: billable hours, rates, team growth and how much of your own time is sold. A plan that assumes the founder works 200 billable hours a month will not survive a credit officer’s first question.
A simple decision rule
- First-time founder, one application, budget under a few hundred dollars: an editable package or guided software.
- Recurring updates for a growing company: software with tracking.
- Large loan, equity round or grant with strict rules: a consultant, and use a template only for the first draft.
